Elderly Nursing Care for Mrs. M Asthma with Knowledge Deficit Nursing Problems in Pepe Village Sedati Sidoarjo

Abstract
Background: Asthma is a disease of the respiratory tract that is chronic. This condition is caused by inflammation of the respiratory tract which causes bronchial hypersensitivity to stimuli and obstruction of the airways. Some people think that asthma is a disease that is simple and easy to treat. Minimal knowledge about asthma makes this disease often not handled properly. Objectives: This study aims to determine the application of elderly nursing care to Mrs. M who suffers from asthma in Pepe Village, Sedati, Sidoarjo. Methods: This research is a research that uses descriptive research methods with a mixed-method approach (qualitative and quantitative research). This research was carried out on March 8-9 2021 in Pepe Village, Sedati District, Sidoarjo Regency. This research was carried out by applying nursing care for the elderly according to the case. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling by setting inclusion criteria. The research results were carried out by analyzing data on nursing care for the elderly that had been implemented. Results: Based on the results of the study, it was found that respondents still did not know specifically about asthma. This is evidenced by the patients saying they did not know about the meaning of asthma, the signs and symptoms of asthma, and the management of asthma while the patient was at home. With this data, the emerging nursing diagnosis is knowledge deficit related to lack of exposure to information. Nursing implementation carried out by researchers in the form of explaining to clients about the meaning of asthma and its management, helping clients to recognize the signs and symptoms of asthma, teaching clients about how to prevent asthma. Conclusion: The application of nursing care carried out for asthma sufferers who experience a nursing diagnosis of knowledge deficit related to lack of exposure to information can be resolved properly, which is indicated by the increase in respondents' understanding of asthma.References
